Methodology & Use
Chemiluminometric Immunoassay (Roche Elecsys)
- Managing breast cancer patients when used in conjunction with clinical information and other diagnostic procedures
- Serial testing to assist in early detection of disease recurrence in previously treated stage II and III breast cancer patients
- Monitoring response to therapy in metastatic breast cancer patients
- This test is not useful as a cancer screening test.

Specimen Requirements
Patient Preparation: High levels of Biotin may effect test results. Recommend that patient avoid all biotin-containing supplements, commonly found in hair, skin, and nail supplements and multivitamins, for 12 hours prior to blood collection.
Serum
Collect blood into serum gel tube or red top tube. Allow blood to clot completely and then centrifuge to separate serum from cells. Tubes should be centrifuged within 2 hours of collection.
Minimum specimen volumn: 0.25 mL
Specimen stability: 7 days refrigerated
