Serum: Draw blood in an SST or red-top tube. Spin down and send 1 mL of serum refrigerated.

Morning (0800) and afternoon (1600) specimens are desirable due to diurnal variation.

Note: Include time of collection on request form.

6-10 a.m.: 4.8 - 19.5 µg/dL

4-8 p.m.: 2.5 - 11.9 µg/dL
