Test Code IRONPP Iron Profile

Important Note

Profile includes: Total iron, TIBC, UIBC and iron saturation.

Total iron binding capacity (TIBC) is an indirect measurement of the serum Transferrin iron binding capacity.  Direct measurement of Transferrin must be ordered separately.

Additional Codes

EPIC:  LAB9642

Performing Laboratory

St. Joseph Hospital

Methodology & Use

Timed Bichromatic End Point

Measurements of serum iron and iron binding capacity are typically used in the diagnosis and monitoring of iron deficiency anemia and chronic inflammatory disorders.
