Used in the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis.

Specimen Requirements

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

 

Plasma
Draw blood in a lavender-top (EDTA) tube(s). (Hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.) Spin down and send 2 mL of EDTA plasma refrigerated.   Label specimen as "plasma".

 

Serum
Draw blood in an SST (gold top) tube or plain, red-top tube(s). (Hemolyzed specimen is not acceptable.) Spin down and send 2 mL of serum refrigerated.   Label specimen as "serum".
